По случаю открытия Олимпиады в Сочи поделюсь фотками работ Василия Слонова из серии “Welcome! Sochi 2014”, которые я имел удовольствие лицезреть в галерее Марата Гельмана в Винзаводе во время весеннего визита в Москву. Впрочем, надеюсь, что соревнования пройдут на высоком организационном и спортивном уровне, что российские спортсмены всем покажут… в общем, что всё пройдёт так, что при организации следующего крупного международного события в России, шутки подобные этим работам ни кому в голову просто не придут ;) Пока, правда, истории про строительство, факелы и подготовку сборной вызывают здоровый скептицизм.

On the occasion of the Olympic Games inauguration in Sochi I would like to share these photos of artworks by Vasily Slonov from his series “Welcome! Sochi 2014”, which I had pleasure to see in Marat Gelman’s gallery in Vinzavod during my spring trip to Moscow. By the way, I do really hope that the games will turn out to be a well-organized sport event, and that Russian sportsmen will show to the world their best possible performance ever… that the games will be such a success, that nobody will have in mind such jokes, like these drawings, when a next worldwide event will be held in Russia ;) Unfortunately, for the moment, all the public-known stories related to pre-Olympic preparations in Russia make me a way too sceptical.
